The fourth, 2008 edition of Barcelona's Busker's Festival will be held July 31st to August 3rd. Buskers who fancy a working holiday or at least a couple of days on the beach have until the end of December to get their participation requests in to the organizers. There is no payment or prize, but travelling expenses will be met and "the group or band is allowed to pass the cap to the public and sale their CD’s in each of the sessions," plus a promotional CD will be produced. Awon, a too, awon, two, three four... More Barcelona beat here.

The organizers are looking for real street music bands who are "carrying out its artistic work in the street or the case of a consolidated group, that their beginnings were in the street, having to adapt the show to a street format." To understand this use of the word "street," it might help you to know that Spaniards use the expression "en la calle" (in the street) as a synonym for "out" as in "We went out last night" (and probably drank and had a good time all round). Interested buskers will have to provide the following:

• Artistic proposal of the group with the description of the show. It must include: CV of the group, list of members detailing their functions.
• CD with photographs of the group or the show, to be included in the catalogue and WEB (format gif or JPEG - 300 pixels of resolution).
• CD with the group's music.
• CD with 1 song selected by the group, in the original CD format (NOT MP3 NOR IN ANOTHER COMPRESSED FORMAT), to be included in the promotional CD of the festival.
• Description of the characteristics of the show and raider.

And no, I don't know what they mean by "raider", either.
