Interjamón
At an altitude of 1,476 m, the little (pop. 800) town of Trevélez is the highest in Spain. It was founded by Moors and is an attractive place, with its narrow, winding Arab streets, flat roofs and characteristic chimneys - it is good for a few hours' stop for a leisurely Spanish lunch, or as a halt when you are exploring the Sierra Nevada or the Alpujarras. It is more famous, though, for the cured mountain ham, jamón serrano, it produces in surprising quantities. This website seems to have some relationship with the Consejo Regulador de la Denominación de Orígen Específica, the body which oversees authenticity of Trevélez ham.Added on: 02-Apr-2005 | hits: 92
