La Mancha D.O. 

"La Mancha" as a wine denominación de origen (it is also a D.O. for cheese, and probably other things like olive oil). La Mancha, the geographical and historical area is slightly different, being the largest plateau in Spain, mostly suitable for cereal farming, while the D.O. encompasses the hilly bits around it which are easier to drain (essential for vines), for example the area south of Valdepeñas which strictly belongs to Campos de Daimiel rather than La Mancha. Never mind, it's all Don Quixote country. La Mancha wines tend to be sturdy, functional table wines rather than great vintages, though Reservas and Gran Reservas are made. Historically, La Mancha (including its surrounds) has traditionally produced white wine, though it has modernized and more red than white is now made (dictates of the market, you see).

DO Manchuela 

New (2000) denominación de origen straddling the south of the province of Cuenca and the north of the province of Albacete, between the valleys of the River Júcar and the Caribel. Not particularly fantastic wines, but the dry climate means these vines require little spraying, so Manchuela wines are considered "environment-friendly."
