Rioja, La

La Rioja is another uniprovincial region. This is the regional government's Spanish-only website.

La Rioja Turismo

The regional tourist board's website understandably gives Rioja wine special importance, but also has room for less well known attractions of the region: its nature and landscapes, and its culture (which seems to be a catch-all category, including castles and monasteries, dinosaurs, the Way of Saint James, and fiestas). It also offers suggested routes, has an efficient accommodation-finder (no online reservation), and a splendid (and appropriate) burgundy colour scheme. Almost all the site was available in English at the time of writing.

Red Rioja

It is not quite clear if this site is promoting the Rioja region or just its wines, but it doesn't matter, it has plenty of information about both.

Turismo Rioja

Only rural tourism in La Rioja (and only in Spanish), but that is pretty well what is available in this region.

El Rioja y los 5 Sentidos

Festival held annually from September to October at various locations in the region. Rioja wine is the central theme, but the "5 sentidos" (why "5 senses?" I imagine because you are supposed to use all five at a wine tasting) provides the excuse to add more or less any cultural offering imaginable to the programme: as well as the predictable theatre, concerts, exhibitions and so on, a regatta of hot-air balloons and a horse-dancing show were included in 2005. Spanish-only website.
