The capital of the uniprovincial region of Cantabria, Santander is a quiet, elegant, atmospheric resort, with broad, airy avenues and a calm feel to it. Head out to El Sardinero for beaches and the casino. This Spanish-only municipal site is OK, but won't win any awards: click "GUIA MUNICIPAL" for tourist information.
