Las Bardenas Reales - Biosphere Reserve 

The UNESCO page on the Bardenas Reales, its landscapes, flora and fauna, and why it is a biosphere reserve. Note that these are badlands, not true desert, one of their traditional characteristics being their use for winter grazing of sheep.

Spanish-only website for this desert-like area, apparently from a couple of casas rurales which, instead of being "houses," are caves.

Bardenas Reales de Navarra 

Las Bardenas Reales are not, as is sometimes said, true desert, but they are badlands, and particularly bad ones at that. They are a biosphere reserve and a parque natural. This is a swish but Spanish-only site from a software engineering company.
