Batalha

This town in Estremadura does not really qualify as a city in any sense of the word, but is included here because it is one of the most popular places to visit in the country, both in itself and for the countryside around and nearby beaches. This municipal site is inevitably Portuguese-only, but digging around in "Turismo" is worthwhile.

Beja

Like much of Estremadura in Spain, the Baixo Alentejo region of Portugal is a vast sea of fields of cereals, in which Beja is an island of interest, its most famous monument being its castle. The Portuguese-only muncipal site is acceptable: click "Turismo" then "Roteiro Turístico" for an interactive map.
