Ayamonte

The small town from where the annual drunken pilgrimage to El Rocio departs to leave its horrendous swathe of destruction across Doñana National Park. The municipal site seems to be devoid of content.

Ayuntamiento de Ayamonte

Ayamonte is a slightly seedy market-town sized place from where you get the ferry across the Guadiana estuary to Vila Real in Portugal. A couple of very fine beaches fall within the municipality, Isla Canela in particular being 4 kilometres of gorgeous fine yellow sand backed by dunes. The link goes to the Spanish-only municipal website which is, furthermore, very municipal.

Ayamonte Turismo

Unattractive tourist information from a municipal point of view, not even available in English any more.
