Patronat de la Muntanya de Montserrat

The Mount Montserrat Tourist Board's not very impressive or informative website, in Catalan only. Montserrat deserves better, and you will find better information on the other sites listed on this page anyway.

Aeri de Montserrat

The cable car up to Montserrat Monastery is a giddy 1,350 metre ride over gradients of up to 45 %. Gulp. Reassuringly, this website insists that it "has become the safest and fastest way of reaching Montserrat." Just as well.

Cremallera de Montserrat

The rack railway up to Montserrat Abbey from the railway stop at Monistrol. The site also has information about the two funicular railways, Sant Joan and Santa Cova, which run up the mountain to the top and to the site where the miraculous Mare de Déu image is supposed to have been found.

Montserrat Abbey

Spirituality, culture and nature are the three headings for the abbey's website, which is a reasonable synthesis of the meaning of "Montserrat."

Montserrat Reservation Centre

Montserrat Abbey has two types of accommodation, the three-star Abat Cisneros Hotel in a sixteenth-century building, and the cells, more accurately referred to as the Abat Marcet Apartments, for they are comfortable enough for anyone except the most penitent pilgrim.
