Ribadavia Virtual

Ribadavia has two municipal websites - in spite of its interesting name, this is the more municipal of the two, not available in English, which will not be a great loss to most of you.

Ribadavia.com

The lovely, mediaeval town of Ribadavia is the capital of the Ribeiro wine region in the west of the province of Ourense in Galicia. The link goes to the more interesting of its two municipal websites, with a heap of entertaining and useful information about the town, its history, nature, leisure possibilities, culture and tradition, gastronomy, festivals (including an important wine festival), accommodation and more. Oddly, it doesn't seem to have much to say about the wine itself.

Ribadavia

Ribadavia is the centre of the Ribeiro wine-producing region in the west of the province of Orense. It is a picturesque, mediaeval town, with a splendid, 14th-century castle, too many attractive churches, monasteries and chapels to name, a fascinating judería, Jewish quarter, and more. The link goes to a splended tourist information site apparently put together two or three enthusiasts, who deserve much credit.

D.O. Ribeiro

The wine-making region of Ribeiro is particularly famous for its white wine (this is standard in Galicia). Interestingly, if you have sampled it outside Spain, you are probably American, as it exports little and none to the rest of Europe. This is the content-empty site of the consello regulador of this most emblematic of Galicia's denonminaciones de origen.
