D.O. Cigales

Wine region in the province of Valladolid, not far north of the city of Valladolid itself, occupying the basin of the River Pisuerga in what geographers call "the Duero depression." Though newish (1991) as a denominación de origen, it is a historic wine-making area which produces quality wine of all kinds, though it is especially famous for its rosados, rosé wine.

Cigales

The sleepy little town of Cigales in the province of Valladolid is the capital of the Cigales wine region. It isn't a particularly great tourist attraction, but has some fine (not grand) traditional old Castilian houses and a couple of nice churches. The link goes to its Spanish-only municipal website.
