The most northerly province of Portugal, bordering the Spanish province of Pontevedra, the two being separated by the Minho/Miño. Viana do Castelo is a town rather than a city, situated on the Minho's fabulous Costa Verde. It is the most tourist-developed place in this part of the country, which explains why this excellent municipal website has tourist information in English.
