Link profile: Manzanares el Real

Category: Start / Spain and its Regions / Madrid / Manzanares el Real
A historic town north-west of Madrid, on the lower slopes of the Sierra de Guadarrama, Manzanares el Real is worth visiting just for its fabulous 15th-century castle. Even more important an attraction is La Pedriza, famous for its spectacular rock formations and the most singular part of the Parque Regional de la Cuenca Alta del Manzanares, in turn a Biosphere Reserve. The link goes to its Spanish-only municipal website: once you are inside, click "Arte" for details of the town's historic buildings, "Paisaje" for stuff related with the nature reserve, or "Album" for photos of both.
