Link profile: Vinos de Málaga

Category: Start / Spain and its Regions / Andalusia / Málaga
This consejo regulador, regulatory board, covers two different denominaciones de origen, Málaga and Sierras de Málaga, which unusually are made in the same place, or at least the grapes come from the same area. Sierras de Málaga covers the ordinary red, rosé and white table wines made in the province, but it is Málaga wine which is far more remarkable, for it is one of the great dessert wines of the world, thick, treacly sweet wine or liqueur wine. And wine has been made in the Málaga area since the 7th century B.C., making it one of the most ancient wine-making regions in the world.
