Link profile: Yecla

Category: Start / Spain and its Regions / Murcia / Yecla
Apart from being a wine region, Yecla is an isolated, medium-sized town in the mountainous north of the province of Murcia. It is not really a touristy kind of place, but has an attractive Plaza Mayor, a basiliica with a weird, blue-and-white, candy-striped dome, a great ruined Moorish castle, and one of the most siingular museums I have ever come across - the Museum of "El Greco" Replicas contains over 70 copies of El Greco's paintings by a local artist, Juan Albert Roses, who took twenty years to do them, visiting the originals in situ.
