Link profile: Península de Setúbal

Category: Start / Portugal and its Regions / Lisboa e Vale do Tejo / Lisbon Area / Setúbal
Or more accurately, the CVR Península de Setúbal, as we are looking here at the Setúbal wine region and its regulatory board. The traditional wine made here is a Moscatel, a strong, sweet, fortified wine, subjected to perhaps decades of aging, and now sold under the DOC Setúbal. More conventional but quality wine is made in the same region under the DOC Palmela, and ordinary table wine is produced as Vinho Regional Terras do Sado, the River Sado flowing south-to-north up the peninsula before emptying into the Atlantic in a broad estuary at the city of Setúbal itself. The regulatory board (CVR) is responsible for all three types of wine.
