If your establishment has a web page and you think it should be included on this list, drop me an e-mail.

Hostal Jaen
Again, I can only assume this reasonably priced establishment in Calle Cervantes is one-star.

Hostal López
MadridMan speaks very highly of this hostal. You may consider it an advantage or a drawback that it is located in the Calle Huertas, one of the centres of Madrid's famous nightlife, but it could not be better placed for Madrid's museum street, the Paseo del Prado.

Hospedaje Madrid
One-star place with three-star prices, very well placed between the Plaza Mayor and the Puerta del Sol. Probably of most interest to people looking for self-catering, apartment-type accommodation.

Hostal Marsella
In the run-down old streets north of the Gran Vía. OK prices, not a good web page. It is a pity the photos do not display properly - I would have liked to see the flower pot.

Hostal Mirentxu
'Mirentxu' is a Basque word, pronounced 'Mirenchoo.' The hostal is central and cheap; the web page is well made and badly translated into English.

Hostal Oporto
Awful web page which does not work properly, with no price information either, for this centrally located hostal. MadridMan likes it, though.

Hostal Plaza D'Ort
This hostal in the Plaza del Angel, in the historic centre of Madrid and very handy for its nightlife, advertises double rooms for 4,800-6,500 Pts.

Hostal Puerta del Sol
Practically slap-bang in the Puerta del Sol itself, the heart of both Madrid and Spain, with views over the square, though you may have to lean out a bit (not too far, it is a long way up). Evidently gay-friendly, and one of the few establishments in this category to offer board with your lodging.

Hotel Teran
Central enough, and reasonably priced.

Hostal Tokio
A very cheap option, in the maze of old streets north of the Gran Vía.

Hostal Villagarcia
A hostal in the calle Fuencarral, north of the Gran Vía. I especially liked the "Prizes and reservations" (the "prize" for a double room is 36 euros).

Hostal Zabala
Near the Anton Martín metro station. Probably cheap, but the page does not say whether value-added tax is included in the price.
