This small (pop. <47,000) city has a lovely walled mediaeval/Renaissance centre on top of a steep hill. It is most famous for its casas colgantes, hanging houses, perched high over a ravine, and the fantastic rock formations of the nearby Ciudad Encantada, used as a location for Conan the Barbarian. The municipal site has some of the most impressive photos I have ever seen on the web, and tons of information about both the city and the surrounding country.

Including the visit everyone makes to the nearby Ciudad Encantada with its weird rock formations, where many scenes from "Conan the Barbarian" were shot.

The menu of this municipal tourist board site has no fewer than 28 items, including accommodation, how to get there, nightlife, festivals, gastronomy, museums, archaeological sites, and more. No longer available in English, heaven knows why.
