Spain and Portugal for Visitors

The Asociación de Empresas y Profesionales para gays y lesbianas de Madrid y su Comunidad is an organization of gay-oriented professionals and businesses in the area. Its website contains little of interest for visitors.

The Chueca quarter of Madrid, the most important gay centre in Spain with the possible exception of Sitges, has its own portal (unfortunately, Spanish-only), probably the most important gay-dedicated site in Spain or Portugal.

The very earnest website of the COlectivo de lesbianas, GAys, transexuales y bisexuales de Madrid, translated here as "the Lesbian, Gay, Transgender & Bisexual Collective of Madrid." Its menu leads you to information about or for gay men, young people, transexuals, the hearing-impaired, AIDS and HIV prevention and the care of their sufferers, LGTB families, human rights, immigration, a gay and lesbian help-line, religious affairs, a radio station, library, outdoor activities and sports, and even has a corner for gay opera lovers. Most of it is not available in English, though.

Madrid Orgullo, Madrid Pride, the biggest gay pride march / demonstration / party in Spain, set to be bigger than ever in 2007 when Madrid is the seat of Europride and to all intents and purposes the gay capital of Europe.
