Deií
By: John Ross 2004.12.31

One of the most attractive villages in the Serra de Tramuntana or indeed Majorca, Deií  has long been home to artists and other bohemians, most famously Robert Graves, but also including Russinyol and Manuel de Falla. It also hosts an annual chamber music festival. Much of its appeal lies in the contrast between its smallness and its completeness - it has both the sea and mountains, including the thousand-metre high Puig des Teix, church and churchyard, a monastery, museums, shops, a pension and a hotel, a pharmacy and a doctor's surgery, a grocer's and any number of restaurants, all in spite of having a population of not much more than 800.
