Puerto Pollensa
By: John Ross 2005.07.05

Between English, Mallorquín and Spanish, the spelling of this placename varies confusingly: Pollensa, Pollença... to make matters worse, Pollença is not the same place as Puerto Pollensa, which can be "Port" or "Puerto," with an optional "de" before the Pollensa (or Pollença, or Pollenca). Whatever, Pollensa is a historic little town in the north of Majorca, while Puerto Pollensa is a fishing village turned rather chic resort and is a good choice if you want a taste of the Mediterranean with all mod cons.
