Map of Málaga
Málaga, Spain
Málaga's historic centre is remarkably compact, considering the city's importance and size. Essentially, its southern border is the port and sea, and its western limit is the course of the River Guadalmedina (usually dry or nearly so), identifiable on the map by the Pasillo de Santo Domingo, the street running along its right bank. To the east of the centre, you can distinguish Málaga's great fortress constructions, the Alcazaba, visible as the greyish splotch above the Calle Guillén Sotelo, and the Gibralfaro soaring above it to the east, (and the hills on which they stand) mark the centre's eastern boundary. Within the centre. you can easily make out the emblematic Alameda Principal, a broad, tree-shaded avenue lined with flower stalls, and the great Plaza de la Marina at its eastern end, north from which runs the aristocratic Calle del Marqués de Larios, generally referred to simply as the Calle Larios. The Malagueta Bull Ring, easily visible to the east of the Paseo del Parque (it's round, you did know that, didn't you?) and the Malagueta itself, a series of ugly tower blocks on the spit of land to the east of the harbour, are much newer, indeed the latter was only seriously built up in the sixties and seventies, as the obtrusiveness of its buildings testifies.
This streetmap of
Málaga
comes courtesy of those nice young people over at Google, bless their little
cotton socks. It will centre where you double click, you can pan over it using
the arrows (or dragging the rectangle in the overview map in the corner), and
you can zoom in and out using the '+' and '-' buttons. Neat, ain't it? I have
pre-selected the "Hybrid" view, just because I happen to like the
look of it — if you would rather see the street map without the aerial
photographs, just click "Map" (or "Mapa" or whatever it
says in your language). Or select the "Satellite" view to remove the
street names and other map elements.
