Itálica, Sevilla
The Roman city of Itálica is in what is now the town of Santiponce. When it was founded by Scipio ("Africanus," the one who beat Hannibal) in 206 BC, It was the first Roman city outside the Italian peninsula, and two (consecutive) Roman emperors, Trajan and Hadrian, came from Itálica.
Itálica's greatest monuments are its Roman theatre and its amphitheatre, the latter being one of the largest in the Roman Empire, with a capacity of twenty-six thousand spectators. But let's face it, it is only a slight exaggeration to say that when you've seen one Roman theatre / amphitheatre, you've seen them all, and Itálica's appeal lies more in its houses with their mosaic floors, and its streets.
