Archaeological Museum, Seville
The province of Seville, particularly the ancient city of Itálica, has been something of a goldmine for archaeologists.
The Roman finds from Itálica and elsewhere in the Museo Arqueológico de Sevilla include remarkable statues of the Emperors Trajan and Hadrian, both of whom were from Itálica, and the Venus de Itálica, an Aphrodite rising from the waves (armless, of course and, in this case, headless). And it has a number of prehistoric and protohistoric finds of great interest, of which the Phoenician remains and those from the little known civilization of Tartessus are noteworthy - look out for what is called the Treasure of the Carambolo, so called for the kind of pottery with which it found, completely by accident.
