Lawrence's Hotel in Sintra claims to be "the oldest hotel on the Iberian Peninsula and the first of its kind in Europe." It was here that Byron began Childe Harold.

Maisturismo Hotel Guide
A country-wide (Portugal) accommodation search engine. Better at finding apartments than anything else.

Manor Houses of Portugal
A private accommodation agency dealing in all sorts of lodgings except the cheap kind: villas, hotels (expensive ones), pousadas and, of course, given their name, manor houses. The site has quite a lot of interesting information and is fun to poke around.

NetHotels - Portugal
The search engine on this site seems to work efficiently, although a total of 70 results for Lisbon, the Algarve and the Alentejo does not seem a great many. Fast though, and nothing else beats it.

Pousadas of Portugal (official website)
Pousadas in Portugal, like paradors in Spain, are luxury or near-luxury hotels, often converted castles or palaces, intended for people touring the country in their own vehicles.
