Mediterranean Blue

The Cabo de Gata-Nijar Natural Park or nature reserve is an unspoilt peninsula, with sand dunes and salt pans. It does get some tourism, especially people who like to get away from it all, including nudists, as well as divers and windsurfers.

Cabo de Gata - from Andalusia.com
Rather more cryptic than usual for Andalusia.com, a brief presentation of the Cabo de Gata nature reserve.

Cabo de Gata - from Sur in English
An article about the Cabo de Gata nature reserve from the English-language magazine Sur in English. With a footnote on Tabernas.

Parquenatural.com
A very good site with evidently commercial intentions, but none the worse for them. It is now available in English: "villages" in the left-hand menu brings up an interactive map. Clicking on the names of the villages brings up a description and a couple of photographs of each. Or "photos" gives you a splendid gallery.

Parque Natural Cabo de Gata-Nijar
An odd site. The facts that it is Spanish-only and that it also serves as the homepage for a restaurant may make it difficult for you to extract the otherwise interesting information it contains. For example, "Rutas y Senderismo" gives you four different walks, with maps, duration 2-8 hours. And the "fotos," photographs, are great.

Parque Natural de Cabo de Gata
A Spanish-only page, from Almeria.net. Good descriptions of the vegetation, bird life, etc., with some not especially impressive photos.

San José
San José is attracting a certain (very modest) amount of development, but it is still one of the least spoilt areas of the Mediterranean. Quite a lot of information from a property rental company - you do not need to be put off by that.

Hotels
Hotel Club
This booking service covers a very wide range of places in both Spain and Portugal.

Venere.com
An on-line booking service with great discounts.

Car Hire
Auto Europe
Car rental, motor homes, minibuses... And an interesting short-term lease option.
