Check out SPV sister site:
Mediterranean Blue

The coast of the province of Granada, recently given the undeservedly awful name of Costa Tropical, is one of the less developed areas of the Spanish Mediterranean. This fact, its climate and the proximity of Granada, the Sierra Nevada and La Alpujarra make it highly attractive to those wishing to avoid the high-rise Med.

Almuñécar
Almuñécar is the most important resort town on the Costa Tropical and a most appealing choice. Its municipal website is very attractive, too: well designed, user-friendly and enjoyable. Although the section on La Herradura, Almuñecar's sister locality, is not available in English, it is a remarkable achievement overall.

Almuñecar - Accommodation
A list of hotels, guest houses, apartments and campsites from the site of Almuñecar Town Council. Note the option for having information sent to you by e-mail.

La Alpujarra
Admittedly, this site belongs to a travel agency which is trying to sell you a holiday here, but La Alpujarra, a mountain area tucked in behind the coast, really is like this, believe me:"...one of the most enchanting and beautiful regions in the world. Spain's best kept secret, a joyous land of sunshine, snowy mountains and some of the most splendid scenery imaginable." .

La Alpujarra - Nancy's Walking Holiday
La Alpujarra or Las Alpujarras, in the province of Granada, is a beautiful, unspoilt area, perfect for hiking. Nancy's account of her holiday, found on the same website as the previous link, captures it very nicely.

The Costa Tropical of Granada - from Andalucia.com
The essentials about the Costa Tropical, presented impeccably, as usual, by Andalucia.com.

La Herradura
La Herradura is a quaint fishing village-cum-resort in an attractive bay. From Andulucia.com.

Motril - Beaches
Motril is the second largest resort on the Costa Tropical, which does not mean it is large (pop. 50,000). This is a Spanish-only page. Click 'Fotografías' to see a Java slideshow if your computer is fast enough - I found it excruciatingly slow.

Salobreña
Salobreña is an attractive, whitewashed village perched on a hill-top overlooking the Mediterranean, and one of my favourite spots. This personal webpage has a certain charm about it.

Salobreña - from Andalucia.com
Salobreña as described by Andalucia.com is still one of our favourite resorts.
