Spanish words are pronounced with a stress on the penultimate
syllable: Es-pa-ña, ex-ce-len-cia,
exept for words ending with d, l, r and z, which end with
the stress on the final syllable Va-lla-do-lid.
Exceptions to this rule are indicated with an accent which
looks like a French acute accent and tells you exactly where
to put the stress: pa-ís, ca-fe-te-ría,
dí-ga-me.
